| FAMILY TABLE |
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in.
Matthew 25: 35-36 Family Table began in January 1995 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Anoka. Family Table is modeled after a similar program at Church of the Nativity in Burnsville, Minnesota. Since 1995, Family Table has expanded to include 12 more churches, so that a free meal is served twelve nights per month to all who come. At Trinity, Family Table serves a free meal on the last Saturday of each month from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The need continues to grow in our area. Over the past 12-1/2 years, Family Table at Trinity has served over 20,000 guests and has given out over 9,000 bags of groceries. We are pleased to invite you to share in the hospitality ministry of the Family Table. The Family Table is not a soup kitchen, but an experience of sharing with one another--the guests who come and those who open their hearts to the guests, and of both groups growing deeper in our understanding of Christ's love for all people. Volunteers are always welcome; there is always room for an extra pair of hands, even an hour of times is appreciated. You can also help Family Table by becoming a supporter. It costs between $850 - $1000 a month for groceries and the meal. 20-25 volunteers are needed each month to prepare, set up, serve and clean up. All contributions are tax-deductible and Family Table will provide you with a receipt for your contribution. Some of our community supporters are: Panera, Rainbow Foods, Cub Foods, Jensen's Super Valu, Costco, County Market Foods. | SHAWL MINISTRY |
Trinity Church has a wonderful prayer shawl ministry. Women from our parish knit or crochet these shawls and pray and meditate God's love and compassion into each stitch. The shawls are then blessed at the altar by Fr. Matthews and then are available to those wishing to receive them. People give these to loved ones and friends who are ill or in the hospital. They also give them to newly baptized members and to graduating seniors going off to college. It is a very popular ministry of our church. So far more than 100 shawls and lap robes have been given away. They meet the first Tuesday of every month, in the afternoon, at Trinity, have coffee and cookies, share patterns and ideas and enjoy each others company. They are willing to teach you how to knit and crochet and look forward to anyone who enjoys knitting and crocheting to join the group. You can knit at home, while on the bus....anywhere. For more information, call Eva Mae Cleator, Diana Perovich, Alberta Rathbun, Ruth Berg, Nancy Dold, Becky Sales, Marilyn Sawyer, Juleen Jeske, Alice Jackson, Marion Martin, Norah Lund, Karen Ordner. If there is someone that you would like to give a prayer shawl to, talk to any member. |
