From the linens to the music and the people in the pews, preparing for our spiritual worship is important at Trinity. Each Sunday is a celebration of our life together as a parish and Christian community. When we come together to worship on Sunday, everything is pulled together to create our worship experience. Behind the scenes, though, each group is busily preparing and working in their specialty area to see that things are taken care of to make our time together special. Company is coming! We are preparing for our guests to come and visit and commune with God in our home. As we invite Christ into our hearts, may yours be open to recognize His calling to you and your spiritual gifts. |
| Celebrant |
| The celebrant officiates over the service, and is usually a priest or pastor. They guide our worship from the Book of Common Prayer, read the Gospel, give sermons, bless, pray, sing and sometimes chant. The celebrant of our service is usually Fr. Richard Matthews, the Priest and now Rector of our parish since March of 2003. Each Sunday, Fr. Matthews delivers a meaningful sermon that won't put you under. While you won't be able to take his place in the service, you are invited to participate in the service as a lay person, or pew person. If you have questions, contact Fr. Matthews. |
| Altar Guild |
Preparing the altar for worship is the forte of this group. It's not just about throwing on table runners and napkins. It's about preparing a consecrated area with the proper attire for Worship and Communion. It's learning about the Seasons of the Church Year, preparing for church services, celebrations and funerals, and care of the sacred utensils. | Chalice Bearers, Intercessors and Lectors |
The readings from the Bible are an important part of our Sunday worship. During our service, we have two readings...one from the Old Testament and one from the New Testament...and a psalm. Lectors do the readings. We also have our special prayer requests and the person responsible for leading this portion of the service is an Intercessor. During Communion, usually two people help assist the pastor with the Eucharistic ministry. These people are called Chalice Bearers. They present the wine to each baptized person, from any denomination, who has received a Communion bread host from the pastor. The person receiving may either drink from the chalice or dip their host into the chalice. |
| Acolytes |
Acolytes help the pastor during the processional, recessional and during the service. They carry the cross, light candles, count at Communion, assist with Communion, and other tasks. There can be from 1-3 Acolytes at a service. If you would like to know about becoming an Acolyte, contact Fr. Matthews. |
| Music and Choir |
|
Whether your are standing or kneeling, there is nothing like the blended musical worship service led by Guitarists Tom and Debbie Eckstein and Keyboardist Bob Webster. One moment you may be singing joyfully, and yet at another moment, you may find tears in your eyes because your heart has been touched by the spiritual connection of the music that Tom, Debbie and Bob perform. A combination of traditional hymns and contemporary music is played during the service. Occasionally, members with other musical instrument experience will join in. In addition, Trinity has an Adult Choir that practices every Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. and participates in the service approximately twice a month. You don't need to have a perfect voice to be in the choir...only a love of singing. If you would like to be a part of the musical worship at Trinity, contact Tom, Debbie or Bob. |
| Healing Ministry |
| Sometimes you're ill, hurting, confused, angry, upset, lost, anxious, tired or just fed up. Sometimes you're going in for medical reasons and fear the worst. Sometimes someone you care about is in trouble or needs help, and you don't know what to do. Sometimes you need peace and encouragement. Most of the time you can convey your prayers just fine and you feel strong enough to do it. But sometimes you may feel weak, overwhelmed, helpless and you can't gather your thoughts. The Healing Team is a group of people who believe in healing through the power of prayer and healing touch. The Healing Team intercedes when you don't feel strong enough to ask for yourself or for others who need help. They pray, give thanks, ask for guidance and ask God to use them as vessels for healing those who come for laying on of hands. It is God who does the healing. The power of the Holy Spirit is strong and many who have come for healing and prayers feel peace and hope. Some feel a quicker healing of body, mind and spirit. So if you need a little "boost", visit the Healing Team during Communion on Sundays. You may also arrange for a private session. | Ushers |
| Our ushers are friendly greeters who hand out service bulletins, pass out the offertory plates, collect the money---and the children from Sunday School, guide us to Communion and make sure that all is well and protected during the service. Jackets and flashlights are not required. If you would like to be a part of this team, contact Gary Hillman. |
| Coffee Hour |
| After nourishing our spirits and participating in worship, we've worked up an appetite. It's no exaggeration that Trinity loves their coffee hour. With fresh coffee, tea, juice and goodies we come together in fellowship to visit, laugh and talk about our lives. Paul Barks is the coordinator of Coffee Hour and does a wonderful job of inviting parishioners to take a Sunday out of the year to host Coffee Hour. If you have questions, contact Paul. Otherwise, grab a cup, pull up a stump and sit a spell. |
